Key elements for running and sprinting

Footwork

The quality, stability and duration of the ground contacts are the foundation on which running is based.

 

Contact times are greater during acceleration and decrease towards reaching maximum speed.

Angles

The key positions for an effective running action can be summarised in angles: ideal alignments ensure the optimal transmission of forces.

In addition to generally valid principles, individual characteristics must be taken into account.

Switch

The velocity at which you move from one key position to the next is called 'switch'.

The step frequency results from it and increases during the acceleration phase, before reaching top speed.
